February 14Th, the day of needed plans and if you’re like the majority of people out there, you wait until the very last minute to plan the perfect Valentine’s Day with your loved one. In this video I am going to touch on the best things to do for Valentine’s Day in Metro Detroit. Let’s get to it
Life gets in the way, you have a job, they have a job, it’s on a Monday, you don’t know what fits the category of “perfect”, and let’s face it, not everyone has the perfect hallmark life. That’s just fine, because I’m going to help you get something on the calendar for Valentine’s Day this year.
Since Valentine’s Day tends to be during full fledged snowmageddon in Michigan, a lot of these activities are winter related and don’t just consist of a TV dinner and binge watching your favorite Netflix show.
Ice Skating At Campus Martius
To start this off, I have to bring in the expected attraction, ice skating at Campus Martius. They will be having a sweetheart skate with a live DJ. There’s nothing better for a new couple to break some ice (pun intended) by making it a team effort to try and stand up on skates. And for the seasoned couples out there, it gets you out and doing something fun outside of your routine. They have ice skating available until March 6th, so get there before it’s too late, even if it isn’t on Valentine’s Day.
Visit Cranbrook Institute of Science
The next cool thing on the list is making a visit to the Cranbrook Institute of Science to see “A Journey to Our Future”, which is an interactive exhibit produced by Evergreen Exhibitions in educational collaboration with NASA and as seen at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. They have such a diverse selection of events. I mean what person isn’t at least a tiny bit interested in space and the history of the world? I’ll link the website in the description so you can find an event that suits you.
Bower Farms Winter Park
Another snowy adventure you can have your significant other or family for that matter is at Bower Farms Winter Park in Bloomfield Hills. Which includes: glow tubing, ice skating, hot cocoa, bonfires, food at the Farmers Kitchen and MUCH more. All this cool stuff goes on until February 27Th, so get on it and I promise it will be worth your while.
Farmington Hills’ Heritage Park
It’s time to take a Stroll with your Sweetheart at Farmington Hills’ Heritage park, as they provide a candle-lit hike through the trails of Heritage Park. It’s the little things yah know, not everything on Valentine’s Day needs to empty your wallet.
Recreation Activities Center
The Recreation Activities Center in West Bloomfield is putting on a guided snowshoe hike through the snow covered forest with your valentine. No experience needed for this one, but it tends to sell out every year, so if you can’t get in this year, let this video be a guide for your next years to come.
Oasis Hot Tub Gardens
Next item on your Valentine’s Day adventure is to make a trip on over to Ann Arbor to visit the Oasis Hot Tub Gardens. Each tub is in a private room to give you a nice slice of privacy and let you enjoy the setting each room creates.
Maybe before you hit the tubs consider using the built up rage you have for one another at a rage room, where you can break anything from Dishes, laptops, TVs, glasses, and much more. A lot of rage rooms have a BYOB option, and that doesn’t stand for bring your own beer, it stands for bring your own breakables. Where you can destroy something in a safe area. The best part is, even if you aren’t going into Valentine’s Day with a sweetie, you could always bring pictures of your last one and do some damage on them if it makes you feel better. There are rage rooms in Madison Heights, Farmington and Whitmore Lake.
Brewery & Wineries
With over 350 breweries, and more than 140 wineries in Michigan, you and your significant other can take advantage of some of the awesome wines and beers they make right here in the state. A lot of them even have Valentine’s Day themes and beverages catered to this very red holiday.
Painting With A Twist
Another great activity you can do on Valentine’s Day is painting with a twist, it allows you to see how much worse your painting gets as you continue to refill your glass with wine. They are located in Fenton, Farmington, Ferndale, Detroit, Roseville and Shelby Twp. Be sure to hit the link in the description below to see all the different events they do at each one of their locations
In Michigan, there’s SO MUCH to do when it comes to Valentine’s Day. You just need to take a moment and look around. With so many options such as: ice skating, ice sculpture shows, art classes, cooking classes, brewery and winery tastings, volunteer options, drive-in movies, sleigh rides, or honestly just taking a drive somewhere and seeing where you end up. There really is no shortage of things to do catered to what you like to do.
If you’re looking for some awesome Valentine’s Day getaways in Michigan, you’ll enjoy a video I created last year touching on just that. I’ll link that below along with other event pages so you can make this Valentine’s Day as special as possible.
